Aquatic Invasive Species Program
FLYER DESIGN (ENGLISH & FRENCH)
The client requested a redesign of the English and French versions of this flyer, created in collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Aquatic Invasive Species Program), to highlight three high-priority invasive species monitored in the Great Lakes. The flyer’s goal is to distill complex scientific data, originally published in our research manuscripts, into a format that is clear and easy to understand. It will be distributed at outreach events (targeting recreational anglers, commercial fishers, cottagers, etc.) to help raise awareness. However, the old version needed to be updated to be more visually engaging, less text-heavy, and more accessible, including considerations for individuals with physical disabilities.
DIGITAL INFOGRAPHICS ILLUSTRATIONS
Some of the infographics on the original flyer were outdated, so the client requested updated versions to better reflect the ecological risk levels associated with Grass Carp, Bighead Carp, and Silverhead Carp, as well as updated site visit data across the Great Lakes over a 5-year to 20-year span. The new map was digitally illustrated using a combination of digital painting for the background and vector illustration for the data elements.
