Where Do I Begin: Choosing the Right Design Professional & Website Accessibility
By Jessica Design, Interactive Media Lead, Graphic Design and Website Services in Hamilton, Ontario

Spring is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited. There’s something about this time of year that feels like a fresh start. The days are getting longer, the weather is warming up, and suddenly everything feels a little lighter. It’s easier to feel motivated, take on new challenges, and invest in ourselves and our goals.
In many ways, spring feels like a natural new year. As nature wakes up, we tend to feel that shift too. Our energy changes, routines reset, and there’s a renewed sense of possibility.
Interestingly, many ancient cultures—including the Persians, Egyptians, and Celts—celebrated the new year in the spring, aligning it with planting seasons and the start of new life. When you think about it, that makes a lot of sense. January often feels more like a time for rest and reflection, when we’re naturally drawn to staying warm and cozy.
January 1 became the official start of the new year through the Roman Julian calendar and later the Gregorian calendar. These systems were adopted for practical and political reasons rather than seasonal ones. The Gregorian calendar was introduced in 1582, while Great Britain and its territories—including Canada—didn’t adopt it until 1752.
